Justin: Aligner Delivery

Justin

Let’s use Justin to summarize the delivery steps and attachment placement techniques we outlined for our other patients, Sheena and Stephanie. In Justin’s case we had to execute treatment to remove a retained deciduous tooth, create a surgical guide for implant fixture placement and place the actual implant fixture. I will outline the construction of the surgical guide and implant placement in a separate blog entry.

Right Buccal Attachements
Figure 2
Left Buccal Attachments
Lower Occlusal Attachments Anterior Attachments Upper Occlusal Attachments

Attachment placement:

  1. Try in template to ensure a good fit
  2. Clean, etch and bond teeth sequentially in isolated quadrants
  3. Light cure with a push during light cure
  4. Multi-fluted carbide bur to remove excess
  5. Seat first aligner and evaluate fit

Delivery:

  1. Give patient aligner placement/removal instructions
  2. Give patient red/blue delivery cases
  3. Give patient aligner instruction brochure
  4. Give patient “aligner schedule”
  5. Give patient Scotch-Brite polishing pad
  6. Give patient cleaning instructions (sonic cleaner)
  7. Give patient first three aligners

Justin’s aligner delivery was very simple and he was given instructions to return so that we might monitor his case. The typical interval is for the patient to return after wearing the sets of aligners. Assuming that the wear interval was a minimum activation time of two weeks (300 hours), this would mean we see the patients every six weeks.

Justin left the office excited to begin his Invisalign treatment!
