Daniel: Aligner Delivery: 20 through 23

Treatment date: 6-2-2008Daniel

Daniel came into the office one week ahead of schedule and had worn aligner 19 for one week. We gave Daniel the next four aligners in the series, 20 through 23, and asked him to continue wearing aligner 19 until he had completed the second full week of wear. We are still performing IPR with a hand strip due to tight contacts. The areas in the upper arch that required reduction were the contacts between teeth 6-7, 7-8, 10-11, and 11-12.

In the lower arch, the contacts between teeth 22-23 and 27-28 were reduced. A total of 0.10 mm was reduced in each contact to make the contacts very light. Again, I feel this is very important to allow rotation correction in all these areas. As we near completion of the first set of 31 aligners I am evaluating the sagittal correction to determine if elastics will be needed, and am also evaluating to see if we need to apply additional pressure on any teeth with the dimple pliers. The right side occlusion is very weak class I and our plan is to start unilateral elastics starting at the next visit. It is very likely that we will start using the dimple pliers to augment the rotation correction of the anterior teeth at the next visit.
