Substantial maxillary anterior frenum between upper central incisors
Anterior deep bite
Mandibular crowding

Treatment

Treatment Summary

Retracted upper and lower anterior teeth to close the diastema and controlled torque using beveled horizontal attachments
Resolved the deep bite using lower anterior intrusion

Post Invisalign Treatment

Frenectomy was prescribed and planned prior to Invisalign treatment, but the patient waited until after Invisalign treatment to have this done.

Treatment Tip

Closing the space for a patient with a frenum problem is difficult since the frenum will typically open the space back up. Many of our doctors address this issue by performing a frenectomy at the end of the treatment followed by a bonded lingual retainer. This is the best way to avoid having the diastema open back up.
