Posterior Intrusion and Closing Anterior Openbites: Invisalign is the 1st Choice

Originally presented by Dr. Willy Dayan on 5/22/2009.
This program is Ortho focused and offers 2 CE hours.

Program Description:

Closing the anterior openbite and maintaining that result, is a challenge in the orthodontic treatment of non-growing adult cases. Often excessive extrusive forces are placed on anterior teeth, and retention of these movements requires long-term fixed retainers, and still relapse of the openbite is common. In addition these mechanics are not ideal in cases where excess gum tissue display on the smile is a concern. Invisalign treatment aimed at posterior intrusion to allow mandibular autorotation and closure of the openbite without excessive anterior extrusion has proven very effective at treating these cases with results not possible by traditional braces and elastics. Invisalign is Dr. Dayan's first choice to achieve anterior guidance and coupling of the anterior teeth in cases of anterior openbite.
