  1. Tooth Numbering System

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify which one of the three common tooth numbering systems you want to use when prescribing Invisalign.

Align will adopt your pre-G3 Preference if you had one.

  2. Dual Arch Treatment

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify how you want your dual arch treatments staged when one arch has more treatment stages. The options available are either Simultaneous Start or Simultaneous Finish.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Simultaneous Start
    • Teen – Simultaneous Start
    • Express 5 – Simultaneous Finish (only option)
    • Express 10 – Simultaneous Finish (only option)
    • Assist –Simultaneous Start (only option)

  3. Passive Aligners

This Clinical Preference allows you to request passive aligners for instances in which one arch has more stages. Passive aligners provide temporary retention while the opposing arch finishes treatment. Additionally, passive aligners provide anchorage for buttons and elastics for the treatment of Class II and Class III patients with Invisalign.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – No
    • Teen – No
    • Express 5 – No
    • Express 10 – No
    • Assist – Feature not available

  4. IPR on First ClinCheck Treatment Plan

This Clinical Preference allows you to prescribe IPR on your initial ClinCheck treatment plans by selecting “Yes.” Selecting “No” disables the IPR questions on the prescription form and no IPR will be set up in your initial ClinCheck treatment plan.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Yes
    • Teen – Yes
    • Express 5 – Yes
    • Express 10 – Yes
    • Assist – Yes (IPR will be always applied on initial ClinCheck treatment plan per the Assist Clinical Protocol)

  5. Delay Stage to Start IPR and Attachments

This Clinical Preference allows you to delay the stage that attachments and interproximal reduction (IPR) can begin (up to stage 4). This delays movements that require IPR and/or attachments, and is specifically designed to work with Optimized Attachments.

The default for this Clinical Preference is “no delay,” which means attachments and IPR can occur as early as stage 1, if called for in the treatment plan.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – No Delay
    • Teen – No Delay
    • Express 5 – No Delay (only option)
    • Express 10 – No Delay (only option)
    • Assist – No Delay (all selections beyond default will be set to stage 4 “the next patient appointment”).

  6. Pontics for Open Spaces

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify how you would like Pontics applied to your treatments. A Pontic is a temporary false tooth that you can prescribe and place within an aligner to minimize the appearance of a missing tooth during Invisalign treatment.

The Align default for this Clinical Preference is to place full size Pontics on anterior spaces greater than 4mm and on posterior spaces greater than 6mm. Also, by default, if adjacent teeth are being moved (i.e., extractions) then half size pontics are placed.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Yes
    • Teen – Yes
    • Express 5 – Yes
    • Express 10 – Yes
    • Assist – Yes

  7. Arch Expansion

This Clinical Preference allows you to prescribe expansion of the dental arches, with options that vary according to which teeth are expanded.

Align will adopt your pre-G3 Preference if you had one, otherwise Align defaults will be applied.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Increasing the width of the canines, premolars, & molars
    • Teen – Increasing the width of the canines, premolars, & molars
    • Express 5 – Increasing the width of the canines, premolar, & molars
    • Express 10 – Increasing the width of the canines, premolars, & molars
    • Assist – Increasing the width of the canines, premolars, & molars

  8. Expansion Per Quadrant

This Clinical Preference allows you to quantify the amount of expansion that should be applied per your Arch Expansion Clinical Preference. This Clinical Preference is expressed in millimeters per quadrant with the default being two options available “less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant” or more than two millimeters per quadrant.

Align will adopt your pre-G3 Preference if you had one, otherwise Align defaults will be applied.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant
    • Teen – Less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant
    • Express 5 – Less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant (only option)
    • Express 10 – Less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant (only option)
    • Assist – Less than or equal to two millimeters per quadrant

  9. Tooth Size Discrepancy

This Clinical Preference allows you to indicate how you want to address differences in the sizes of the upper and lower teeth.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Leave space distal to the (upper) laterals
    • Teen – Leave space distal to the (upper) laterals
    • Express 5 – Leave space distal to the (upper) laterals
    • Express 10 – Leave space distal to the (upper) laterals
    • Assist – Leave space distal to the (upper) laterals

  10. Upper Arch Tooth Leveling

This Clinical Preference allows you to prescribe how the upper incisors should be leveled. Options exist to level them according to their incisal edges or gingival margins.

Align will adopt your pre-G3 Preference if you had one, otherwise Align defaults will be applied.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Leveling the incisal edges, with the lateral incisors being positioned 0.5mm more gingival than centrals
    • Teen – Leveling the incisal edges, with the lateral incisors being positioned 0.5mm more gingival than centrals
    • Express 5 – Leveling the incisal edges, with the lateral incisors being positioned 0.5mm more gingival than centrals
    • Express 10 – Leveling the incisal edges, with the lateral incisors being positioned 0.5mm more gingival than centrals
    • Assist – Leveling the incisal edges, with the lateral incisors being positioned 0.5mm more gingival than centrals

  11. Aligner Trimming for Gingival Recession or Large Undercuts

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify how you want your patients’ aligners trimmed at the gingival margins when they present with gingival recession and/or large undercuts.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Trim aligners to 1/2 way between gingival margin and CEJ (cement to enamel junction) line
    • Teen – Trim aligners to 1/2 way between gingival margin and CEJ (cement to enamel junction) line
    • Express 5 – Trim aligners to 1/2 way between gingival margin and CEJ (cement to enamel junction) line
    • Express 10 – Trim aligners to 1/2 way between gingival margin and CEJ (cement to enamel junction) line
    • Assist – Trim aligners to 1/2 way between gingival margin and CEJ (cement to enamel junction) line

  12. For Space Closure, Apply Virtual C-Chain

This Clinical Preference allows you to request overcorrection for space closure using virtual c-chain. Virtual c-chain is an overcorrection technique with aligners which simulates the effect of using elastic c-chains in bracket and wire treatments.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – None (will not apply virtual c-chain)
    • Teen – None (will not apply virtual c-chain)
    • Express 5 – None (will not apply virtual c-chain)
    • Express 10 – None (will not apply virtual c-chain)
    • Assist – Not Applicable

  13. Attachments

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify the attachments you want using the appropriate tab in the drag-and-drop interface (according to movement types: rotation, retention, or extrusion).

Align defaults in the Clinical Preferences tabs are:
    • Rotation – Optimized Rotation Attachments on cuspids and bicuspids
    • Retention – There are no default attachments for retention in the Attachment Interface, however retention attachments will be applied for certain circumstances such as extractions or intrusions as per Align’s Attachment Protocol Summary
    • Extrusion – Optimized Extrusion Attachments on incisors and canines
Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – Your choices will be applied
    • Teen – Your choices will be applied
    • Express 5 – Your choices will be applied
    • Express 10 – Your choices will be applied
    • Assist – Not Applicable

  14. A-P Correction - Precision Cut Interface

This Clinical Preference allows you to specify how you want the aligners trimmed to use elastics for A-P anchorage control in Class II & Class III treatments with Invisalign aligners.

Specification of Precision Cuts is accomplished through the Precision Cuts interface, which lets you easily customize placement of precision cuts using a drag-and-drop communication tool. You can specify your Clinical Preferences for Class II and/or Class III configurations (My Class II or My Class III).

No defaults exist for Precision Cuts, so if you do not specify them in your Clinical Preferences, they will not be placed, even if you have requested them in the prescription form.

Precision Cuts can coexist with Optimized Attachments for Rotation and Extrusion provided there is sufficient room. Precision Cuts cannot coexist with Optimized Root Control Attachments. It is recommended that you defer requesting Precision Cuts until the review of the initial ClinCheck treatment plan. At that time, you may request the appropriate Precision Cuts using the communication tool built into the ClinCheck software.

Align defaults are applicable as follows:
    • Full – None
    • Teen – None
    • Express 5 – Feature not available
    • Express 10 – Feature not available
